The Bridgeport Ballerz is a free basketball and educational program based out of Bridgeport Connecticut. Practices are held weekly and everyone is invited. Once evaluated the coaching staff will determine if the player plays well enough to be on the practice or the travel team. One of the goals of the program is to develop every player who walks through the door to play well enough to become a travel team player.
We want to turn all our players into collegiate athletes, but to do so, we have to not only help players develop their basketball skills but also develop their academics and character. For us to do this we mandate that players pass their classes or submit to free tutoring. We also allow players to have one-on-one time with the coaching staff to discuss any personal issues.
All expenses which include gym rental, uniforms, tournament fees, and travel fees are paid by the coaching staff. Which is why we’re reaching out to the community for some financial assistance. We feel if we can consistently keep running, we can contribute to improving lives and reducing crime in the Bridgeport area.
