The Bridgeport Ballerz recently held their first in-house basketball tournament, and the Red Team emerged as the champions. The team defeated the White Team, and then went on to win against the Blue Team in the Championship. The Red Team, led by coach Charlie, included two female players and an 8-year-old player who came off the bench. The league was established to support the development of local youth basketball players and to help them enhance their skills. The tournament lasted for four weeks and featured four different teams. All four teams made it to the playoffs, with the first seed playing against the fourth seed and the second seed playing against the third. The first and second place teams received trophies, while the third and fourth place teams were awarded medals. Coach Rob, the organizer of the league, mentioned that…
“I created this because I felt that kids needed something they could use to grow their confidence. Too often in the game of basketball, you see kids afraid to make mistakes, and when they do, I can see them lose confidence. Even though the league was competitive, the kids understood that win or lose, it’s not the end of the world.”
